“The Rickenbacker 220 (also known as the "Hamburg") is a solid-body electric guitar produced between 1992 and 1997. Designed as a more player-focused instrument than classic Rickenbacker models, it features a contoured maple body, an oiled maple bolt-on neck, a 24-fret maple fretboard, and dual humbucker pickups. The 220 Hamburg was Rickenbacker's redesign of the earlier 230 model, featuring a curvier, highly contoured top and dropping the old 4-knob/1-switch layout for a streamlined 2-knob configuration. Unlike traditional Rickenbackers known for "jangle" and single-coil snap, the 220’s passive humbuckers deliver a meatier, hotter rock sound that leans slightly more towards a traditional Fender-style tone while maintaining classic Rickenbacker sustain and body.”
