This is Prototype #1 of the 2013 Gibson Custom Shop Duane Allman Tom Murphy Aged Guitar. It is in Mint condition and was retained by the Gibson Custom Shop after it was manufactured. In 2018, it was sold to RumbleSeat Music in Memphis, Tennessee and that same year was sold by them to me. It has been played lightly and kept in a smoke free environment since that time. It is signed on the back of the headstock by the Gibson Custom Shop and a Certificate of Authorization is included that confirms it is Prototype #1 of this truly special guitar.
The Run: A strictly limited worldwide edition of 150 Aged guitars
The Aging: The relic work on these was performed by renowned relic-master Tom Murphy, meticulously recreating every scratch, ding, and worn spot of Duane's original instrument.
Wood & Weight: Features a premium selected maple top and one-piece mahogany body/neck, specifically shaped to Duane's favorite neck profile. These typically weighs in around the highly resonant 3.8 to 3.9 kilogram range (8.5 - 8.6 pounds).
Electronics: Powered by Gibson's Custom Bucker Alnico 3 humbuckers, providing an open, highly dynamic vintage tone.
Hardware: Chrome ABR-1 Bridge with brass saddles and period-correct Schaller machine heads with double-band tuning keys.
Collectibility: Because of the heavy involvement of Tom Murphy and the highly limited supply, this specific 2013 run has become a major "holy grail" for collectors.
