Valiente makes a certain well-known "Hawaiian" brand instrument.
Whether branding it under their own workshop name or building for export, Valiente instruments carry that distinct Filipino handcrafted character: lightweight builds, resonant solid woods, and a very traditional feel.
Overview
The Valiente Tenor Pineapple Mahogany Ukulele combines the deep, resonant volume of a tenor scale with the naturally warm, punchy midrange of a classic pineapple body shape. Handcrafted by experienced luthiers on Mactan Island, Cebu—a region world-renowned for its traditional fretted-instrument craftsmanship—this 4-string ukulele is built for players who appreciate a rich, organic acoustic tone, excellent projection, and a uniquely eye-catching design.
Key Technical Specifications
- Body Size: Tenor Pineapple (offering extra internal body volume for a rounder, fuller bass response compared to a standard figure-8 tenor).
- Top, Back & Sides: Selected Solid Mahogany (delivering a sweet, warm, and highly focused vintage acoustic voice that matures beautifully over time).
- Neck Material: Mahogany or Nato with a comfortable C-profile.
- Fretboard & Bridge: Native Rosewood or local hardwood, featuring traditional dot inlays.
- Scale Length: Standard 17" tenor scale for comfortable string tension and finger placement.
- Nut & Saddle: Real bone for maximum vibration transfer and sustain.
- Tuners: Geared chrome tuners for stable, smooth intonation adjustment.
Sound & Playability Character
- The Pineapple Boost: Because the pineapple shape lacks the waist indentation of a standard ukulele body, it features a larger soundboard area. This gives the instrument a noticeable volume boost and a much more pronounced lower-midrange response.
- Warm & Woody: The mahogany construction rounds out any harsh highs, making it an incredibly sweet-sounding instrument for traditional Hawaiian strumming, vocal accompaniment, or delicate fingerstyle arrangements.
- Ergonomics: The smooth, rounded lower bout sits incredibly comfortably under the arm, making long playing sessions effortless despite the larger tenor scale length.
Condition
This instrument has been played and has a few minor surface scratches in the soundboard finish. The softness of the finish is noticeable both on the Valiente and "M" brand ukuleles also sport vinyl headstock logos.
@VAL.UKE
There aren't a lot of music videos from Valiente but I did attach one with a six string. The price has been adjusted accordingly!
