1978 MIJ Greco M-800, FujiGen, Twin To Ibanez Iceman IC-210

You likely know what you are looking at. This is a rare beast, built in April 1978.

Based on the Ibanez 2663TC made highly popular by Steve Miller in 1975 (before the "Iceman" name was used), this Greco M-800 was the Japanese domestic market twin to the Ibanez Iceman IC-210, both made at FujiGen by the same teams, and pretty much identical except for the bridge hardware. Only produced for 2 years, the actual production numbers are unknown, collectors speculate some 100-130 were made.

Brought from Japan in need of TLC a couple of years ago, it was professionally and lovingly restored by Wild Custom Guitars in France. The decision was made to maintain the awesome relic vibe of the finish, and not spary a fresh clear coat. This is the work that was done on it:

The original celluloid pickup ring had turned to dust after nearly 50 years of chemical disintegration, it was replaced by a custom pickup ring cut out of a vintage celluloid sheet.
The radiator pickup cover is the original.

The original 4-way selector and pots were out of order, and were replaced, together with brand new high-quality wiring. The pickup wiring was checked and everything works as it should.

Neck is great, frets have very moderate wear. The guitar is in great structural condition, with cosmetic wear consistent with a nearly 50yr-old well enjoyed guitar. Some pitting on the bridge, finish dings, scratches, and clear chips as per photos. There is a trace of another neck strap button placement. Clearcoat-only hairline on the back of the headstock by the low E tuner.

Previous owner replaced the cavity cover plate with a custom cut aluminum plate.

The guitar comes with its original case, interior is spotless. Handle, hinges and latches are intact.

Owner's manual, dedicated tool, and remains of the original pup ring are included.
