2004 Rickenbacker 4003 Bass Guitar – Fireglo – Original Hard Case
An iconic bass that needs little introduction, this is a 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 finished in the timeless Fireglo sunburst. Instantly recognisable for its unmistakable looks and unmistakable sound, the 4003 has been the instrument of choice for countless legendary bass players thanks to its powerful output, incredible sustain and unique tonal character.
Presented in very good condition for its age, this 22-year-old instrument has been well cared for and remains an excellent player's example. As you would expect, there are a few small marks and minor dings consistent with careful use over the years. There is also some evidence of minor lacquer burn to the edge of the headstock caused by prolonged contact with a wall hanger. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the playability or structural integrity of the instrument.
Our workshop has carried out a full professional inspection and setup, ensuring the bass plays beautifully with a comfortable action and is ready for its next owner.
Tonally, the 4003 delivers everything that has made the model a classic. The pair of Rickenbacker single-coil pickups produce a wonderfully articulate voice with exceptional note definition and piano-like sustain. The neck pickup offers deep, warm lows with plenty of body, while the bridge pickup adds the unmistakable bright growl and cutting midrange that allows the bass to sit perfectly in a mix. Blending the two pickups creates the famous Rickenbacker sound—rich, punchy and harmonically complex, with an aggressive edge that works equally well for classic rock, progressive music, indie, punk and modern alternative styles.
The maple body and neck-through construction contribute to the instrument's superb sustain and fast attack, while the rosewood fingerboard adds warmth and balance to the overall voice. Every note remains clear and focused, whether played with fingers or a pick.
