Alamo Embassy Tremolo Amp 2563-In My Room. 1967

You know, when I look at an amplifier like this, it brings to mind a lot of firsts. Yeah... your first guitar, your first amp, and woodshedding in that 8x10 room you called home as a teenager. How'd it go?

For those of you too young to recognize the aforementioned lyrics, that's the Beach Boys' "In My Room." Don't you see? This is the amp you think about when you remember that room. This humble mixture of particle board and black mar-resistant vinyl covering is where dreams were born, shipped straight from San Antonio to your bedroom.

These 2563 1x10, dual-6V6, 12AX7 Embassys are the poor man's equivalent of a blackface Vibro Champ, albeit at a fraction of the price. With this amp, the real fun begins when you plug in, crank up the raunch, and let that mile-wide smile obliterate any preconceived bias you might have about an amplifier that cost just $47.50 when its original owner ordered it from the Alamo catalog back in 1967.

Condition? You know how I do this. Behold the nicely appointed brushed aluminum faceplate. Looks nice, right? The tolex and grill cloth look much like they did when they first appeared in 1967, and may I add, the tone from those vintage RCA tubes will not disappoint.

"Lee, how about the tremolo? Does it work?"

Of course, my dear friend—just like it did under the Christmas tree.

In closing, people, if you're looking for that "Studio Series" tone that only a 12-watt, 6V6, handwired amp pushing a 10-inch speaker can deliver, then this is it. How's that, Brian?
