UAFX 1176: The King of Compression in a Stompbox Product Description:

Experience the iconic sound of the Universal Audio 1176, the king of audio limiting, now available in a compact and powerful pedal. The UAFX 1176 Studio Compressor delivers the same punchy, expressive tones heard on more classic records than any other compressor, all built on the powerful UAFX engine. From subtle smoothing to aggressive squashing, this pedal puts the world's most renowned compression at your feet.

Authentic 1176 Emulation:

The UAFX 1176 meticulously recreates the character and behavior of the legendary 1176LN limiting amplifier. Get the same fast attack, unique gain staging, and unmistakable sonic signature that has shaped countless hit records.

Versatile Compression Modes:

The 1176 features three distinct compression types, based on classic 1176 applications:

• Single: The standard single 1176 compressor, with compression directly controlled by the knobs.
• Dual: Two 1176 compressors configured for a direct recorded distortion sound, inspired by the guitar tone on Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog."
• Sustain: Two 1176 compressors configured for maximum sustain and compression, perfect for soaring lead work and singing slide tones, based on the setup used by Lowell George of Little Feat.

Classic Controls and Innovative Features:

The UAFX 1176 features individual controls for Input, Output, Attack, and Release, mirroring the original hardware. The Ratio knob includes the iconic "all buttons in" setting for squashed, gritty textures. True and buffered bypass options are available via a convenient switch, as well as a unique parallel compression mode for a more natural compressed sound.

Fine-Tune Your Sound:

• Input: Adjusts the input level and compression threshold. Higher input levels increase compression and introduce harmonics and distortion.
• Output: Adjusts the overall volume level.
• Attack: Adjusts the reaction time of the compressor. (Faster attack when rotated clockwise, unlike most compressors.)
• Release: Adjusts how long it takes for the signal to return to normal after compression. (Faster release when rotated clockwise, unlike most compressors.)
• Ratio: Selects the compression ratio (Off, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1, All).

Bypass and Parallel Modes:

• Bypass Mode: Switchable between Buffered and True bypass. Use buffered bypass for long cable runs.
• Parallel Mode: Blends the dry signal with the compressed signal for a more natural and nuanced sound.
