BBC LL88 ASC Transformers - Matched Pair - XLR In & Out

A pair of BBC LL88 ASC transformers mounted in a die cast box with XLR In and out. This is a matched pair of transformers (I’ve measured all my stock of these transformers on one of my magnetics analyzers & picked out the closest pair).

These transformers were used on many vintage BBC units - I believe they were made by or in conjunction with Sowter (transformers). They are mounted in mu metal screening cans & have a 1:1 ratio.
The XLR’s are floating balanced in and out - Pin 1 on each channel is joined between the input and output XLR and is also capacitively coupled to the case & transformer cans for screening purposes.

Other people sell these with claims about the audio effect they impart. As with all audio transformers, there response is heavily dependent on source and load impedances / capacitances etc hence i’ll refrain from making any statements about ‘their sound’. That said they are (obviously) very good sounding transformers, which are much loved in the mastering community - offered at a very reasonable price. In good condition, tested & fully working. Unfortunately (as can be seen from the photos) one transformer has lost its model number sticker. I have many hundreds of vintage BBC transformers in stock.
