This early 1955 Gibson Les Paul Junior is a one-of-a-kind guitar! Starting out as a single cut Sunburst with 1954 specs, this guitar was then sent back to Gibson (Kalamazoo, MI) in 1977 where it was refinished in Cherry Red.
This Junior has a very comfortable ’55 rounded neck profile, the rosewood fingerboard barely has any wear and the Dogear P-90 sings/screams as you’d expect. The cherry red finish showcases the woodgrain of this player grade Les Paul which gives it a truly unique look. The electronics and hardware are original, except for a set of reproduction single-line Kluson Deluxe tuners and the truss rod cover. It also got a re-fret at the factory when the refin was done.
The guitar doesn’t have any breaks or cracks, however Gibson didn’t re-stamp the serial number on the back of the headstock after the full refin. The paperwork from Gibson and a copy of the check from the owner at that time is included.
The guitar weighs 7.6 pounds or 3.45 kg.
At the time of the refin, the previous owner also purchased a hardshell case which is the one that comes with the guitar (2 broken latches out of 5).
