The SB2-EN is an 8/16x2 passive summing mixer in a ultra-compact format. Using minimal, completely passive circuitry, it sums 8 or 16 balanced line inputs down to a single set of stereo mic-level outputs. Pair the SB2-EN with your favorite pair of mic preamps to add glue and color to your mixes. When compared to in-the-box mixing, these passive units add more depth, clarity and separation to your mixes. Providing an analog desk flavor to your mix, with improved sonic image.
The 10k ohm resistor networks have been upgraded to Vishay 1% tolerance thick film resistor networks, doubling the component accuracy compared to the 2% tolerance used in the standard build. The input channels are summed into 3/4 W 150 ohm audiophile grade resistors at 1% tolerance. Purchase two fully shielded and balanced DB-25 to 8 TRS analog interface cable snakes to connect equipment to the summing mixer. The hardware has been upgraded to 3/8" stainless steel 4/40 Allen screws and washers to ensure mechanical stability when DB-25 snakes are connected to the mixer chassis. We also provide a version of the SB2-EN that comes with two 8ch DB-25 to TRS 5' audio cables.
In 2020 we tested the SB2-EN in the recording studio, the sound produced by this summing box is amazing! Zero latency and zero phase shift are a direct function of the fully passive signal path devoid of capacitors. The sonic image produced is large imparting analog flavor to your mix. The gluing of the stereo signal is natural and pleasing to the ear. This product continues to garner 5 star ratings on the DIYRE website. This is one of the most affordable 16 channel studio quality mixers on the market.
