2021 Gibson Custom '59 reissue Les Paul Standard, Golden Poppy Burst

A stunning 2021 Gibson Custom Shop ’59 Les Paul, with a beautifully figured Golden Poppy Burst finish top.

This is a superb modern Custom Shop take on one of the most iconic electric guitars ever made. This example is a particularly striking one, with a highly figured ribbon flame maple top that has an almost holographic depth to it, paired with a lovely perpendicular grain pattern that really comes alive under the finish.

Condition is excellent overall, with just the odd small ding here and there from light use. The guitar remains very clean and presents beautifully, with the added bonus of the pickguard never having been fitted, leaving it free from screw holes.

At 3.7kg, this is a very comfortable weight and it balances extremely well. The neck is fantastic: a nice '59 style carve with a nut width of 42mm and a depth of 22.2mm at the 1st fret, increasing to 24.7mm at the 12th. It is a great playing guitar with that familiar Custom Shop ’59 feel.

The CustomBucker pickups sound excellent, delivering all the clarity, warmth and chime you would expect. They read 8k at the bridge and 7.98k at the neck, making for a well-balanced set with plenty of vintage-style character, sustain and dynamic response.
