Dörfler & Jörka "National" Alto Saxophone (Keilwerth Tonal Copy)

This alto saxophone was made in West Germany by Dörfler & Jörka sometime between 1950-1968 (D&J's operation timeframe). There are minor scratches and dents in the body. The horn is in fair playing condition, and could use an overhaul in the future to be restored to top-notch playing condition. It features drawn, rolled tone holes, a round thumb screw, a metal clothes guard, and a chromatic F# key. This listing does not include a case.

Josef Dörfler worked for Keilwerth before starting his own business with financier Hubert Jörka. The pair were also subcontractors for Keilwerth, and eventually, D&J began using Keilwerth bodies for their own horns. They also closely modeled Keilwerth keywork, as Dörfler used to make keywork for Keilwerth. The horns D&J produced are close tonal copies of Keilwerth horns, rather than stencils. This particular horn is a tonal copy of the Keilwerth "New King" Model. D&J horns were engraved with many badges on the bell, including "National".
