Recent Professional Upgrades (June 2026)

This bass plays flawlessly and stands neck-and-neck with any boutique modern build. It has just returned from a professional luthier where it received:

  • Full Professional Plek Service: The unlined fingerboard was perfectly leveled via a Plek machine for unparalleled accuracy, ultra-low action, and maximum mwah/sustain.

  • Complete Setup & Intonation: Action and truss rod adjusted perfectly.

  • Fresh Premium Strings: Brand new D'Addario ECB81-5SL XL Chromes Flatwound strings (Light, .045–.132, Super Long Scale). They feel incredibly silky to the touch and offer a dark, warm, and rich punch that highlights the best of the active EMGs without any harsh finger noise.

Features & Specs
  • Body: Sleek, lightweight ergonomic Pilot body shape

  • Neck/Fingerboard: Slim maple neck with an unlined fretless fingerboard

  • Pickups: Dual Active J-Style EMG Pickups

  • Hardware: Black Guild bridge and Grover tuners in a 4+1 headstock layout

  • Case: Includes the vintage Guild hardshell case (solid latches, protective interior)

  • Accessories: Included setup tools for future adjustments

  • Serial Number: BK100648 (Stamped "Made in U.S.A.")

Condition Note

Cosmetically, this bass is in Excellent condition for a 35-year-old vintage instrument. It has been incredibly well cared for. There are a few small, standard cosmetic wear spots from honest play over the years, which are explicitly detailed in the photographs:

  • A small finish chip on the lower bass-side bout near the bridge.

  • A chip on the very tip of the upper horn.

  • Minor surface nicks and pocket joint lines typical of vintage bolt-on necks.

None of these minor blemishes affect the structural integrity or the phenomenal playability of the instrument.
