The Behringer Four LFO comes equipped with an array of creative modes, adjustable via the big red button in the module’s center. When using the Four LFO, I particularly appreciated how each mode offers a drastically different workflow and operation, leading to incredibly idiosyncratic and experimental synthesizer sounds.

• Free mode: This is as basic as the Four LFO gets, giving you independent control over each LFO’s rate via their respective sliders.
• Quadrature mode: Quad mode assigns your first fader as a master LFO and channels two through four as dependent LFOs. After the first LFO cycle begins, each successive LFO is phase shifted by 90 degrees from the previous LFO channel.
• Phase mode: This mode is very similar to Quadrature mode, but instead of a locked-in 90-degree phase shift per channel, Phase mode allows you to dial in the level of phase shift to taste on channels two through four by using the faders or each channel’s dedicated CV inputs.
• Divide mode: Like Quadrature mode and Phase mode, this mode sets the first LFO channel as a master and the successive LFO channels as dependents. However, instead of phase shifting, the first LFO sets the master frequency. LFOs two through four are configured as perfect divisions of the first LFO, and the amount of division is adjustable by each LFO channel’s respective fader.
