This is a Gibson CS-336 that I purchased in 2008 from Fullers in Houston TX.  It has a figured maple top with a sunburst finish and is in very good to excellent condition.  Shortly after I bought the guitar I had a luthier in the US set the guitar up and fine-tune the neck on a plek – it plays effortlessly and sounds wonderful.  I have all of the original paperwork, hardshell case and hardware – see attached photos.

Note: this guitar is currently fitted with Lindy Fralin P90 humbucker-sized pickups (swapped in 2021) — the original Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers are included and in excellent condition, so the buyer can run either configuration.  I was really just looking for a change: the Fralins have a bit more top end and really suit the guitar, but both are great.

Summary description:

“The Gibson CS-336 is a semi-hollow electric guitar that's been part of Gibson's Custom Shop lineup since its introduction in 2001. It was conceived as a scaled-down cousin of the legendary ES-335, taking the same general silhouette but shrinking it to a tighter, more solidbody-like footprint — roughly 13 inches wide, 16 inches long, and just under 1¾ inches deep — making it noticeably more compact and comfortable to play than its full-size sibling.

“What sets the CS-336 apart technically is its "tonally carved" construction, a method Gibson hadn't fully realized until this model. Rather than building the body from laminated sheets the way a standard ES-335 is made, the CS-336's back, sides, and center block are carved from a single piece of solid mahogany, shaped and hollowed much like a traditional archtop. This solid mahogany piece is then mated to a carved, often figured, maple top finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. The result is a guitar that sits tonally between a chambered Les Paul and a true semi-hollowbody — resonant and airy, but with enough mass and structural integrity to resist feedback at stage volume and deliver strong sustain.

“Among players, the CS-336 has built a reputation as something of a connoisseur's choice — less common than an ES-335 or ES-339, but prized for combining genuine Custom Shop build quality with a body size that feels closer to a Les Paul or solidbody in the hands. It's well suited to anything from jazz and blues to classic rock, and tends to hold its value well on the used market given its smaller production runs compared to Gibson's mainstream lines.”

There are a few sound samples of how the guitar sounds in the linked YT video.
