I purchased the unit in 2024 from another seller on Reverb who frequently sells serviced and restored Tascam portastudios. From the previous seller's original description:
"This Tascam 424 portastudio was just professionally serviced: Heads cleaned and demagnetized, belts and rollers cleaned and/or replaced when needed, speed/pitch calibrated, VU meters, tape counter, inputs, outputs, dbx, and all other functions tested and working 100%."
I can confirm everything works on this unit and it has never given me any issues in the 2 years I've owned and used it. I will include a power supply and pack of unopened tapes.
