For sale is an all-original Epiphone Riviera from the first year of production at Japan's renowned Terada Factory. Finished in Wine Red, the colour has mellowed over time to display a more Cherry-like appearance, beautifully complemented by a dark rosewood fretboard that adds to the guitar's aesthetic appeal.

These early Japanese-made Rivieras are becoming increasingly difficult to find and should not be confused with the later reissue models. Widely regarded for their exceptional build quality, they stand comfortably alongside their American-made counterparts.

Featuring a laminated maple body, mahogany neck, and a pair of humbucking pickups, this Riviera delivers the classic ES-style tone—warm, articulate, and rich, with an excellent balance of clarity, depth, and punch.

In terms of condition, the guitar remains in very good shape for its age. It is completely original, fully functional, and free from any breaks or repairs. Cosmetically, it shows the expected signs of use, including light surface marks and general play wear. The most notable imperfections are a scratch and small dent on the upper bass-side area of the front body, along with some wear to the tip of the headstock. Overall, however, it presents very well.

The neck and fretboard are also in excellent condition, showing minimal wear, while all 22 frets retain plenty of life.

All electronics and hardware function exactly as intended. The hardware displays some age-related tarnishing, most noticeably on the Frequensator tailpiece, which exhibits light pitting that only enhances the guitar's vintage character. All four reflector knobs are present, although three are missing their silver centre inserts.

This one weighs in at 7.94 lbs.

Included is a leather soft bag.
