This 2000 Gibson Custom Shop '61 SG Standard Reissue is an exceptional piece from the highly regarded early era of the Historic Reissue series. True to the specifications of the 1961 original, it features a lightweight, sleek, solid mahogany body finished in a beautiful gloss Faded Cherry. The one-piece mahogany neck features an ultra-fast 1961 SlimTaper profile with an early '60s neck joint, providing unrestricted access to all 22 frets.
The electronics on this era-correct reissue are driven by a pair of factory-installed Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers. Known for their Alnico II magnets, these pickups accurately capture the warm, articulate PAF-style voice with smooth mids and a rich top end. Complete with premium period-correct appointments including an ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminum tailpiece, and vintage-style Kluson tuners, this guitar is a professional-tier instrument built for performance.
