This is a good sounding budget guitar made in South America during the 1950’s-60’s, now sold with a perfect fit used deluxe Pro-Lok classical guitar hardshell case. To demonstrate how this guitar “punches above its weight,” I made a short video that is on YouTube at “old Colombian hand painted guitar.” (Please note that the guitar frets cleanly up and down the neck without buzz, although in this video my old arthritic hands muffed a couple of notes—My error not the guitar’s!) It has been professionally hand painted by a fine artist whose work is reminiscent of that seen on Sting’s floral painted guitars. Thus, the guitar has been refinished, but as an actual upgrade from original. This instrument appears to have been carefully made of all natural wood and is extremely lightweight. When originally sold in South America, this would probably have been intended as an entry-level classical, nylon string, student guitar that fit in nicely with the studious guitar culture of South American 1950’s. There is a beautiful intact label seen through the sound-hole, but it’s a distributor/dealer‘s label, not the actual luthier’s shop where this guitar was built, so unfortunately, that talented person’s identity is lost to us. The tone, action, and intonation are better than average from budget guitars of this era and probably enhanced by decades of wood aging. The guitar has survived with only 3 or 4 non-threatening cracks which present as having been repaired and sealed years ago. This guitar can serve the casual player quite well and can certainly adorn any setting as an authentic piece of fine art for home or office! A deluxe hardshell case is included. Of course, purchase safely with my standing “no questions asked” 3 day inspection return policy. If you’re not satisfied, I’m not satisfied.
