Vintage 1974 Gibson Hummingbird Custom Acoustic Guitar Project w/ Hardshell Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1974 Gibson Hummingbird Custom acoustic guitar project. This is a prime candidate for the proper work and is offered "AS IS" and "AS FOUND" so please be sure to read the entire description and see all of the photos.

This guitar is all original and in nice condition for its age, but it is ready for the "old acoustic spa treatment" including a neck set (sighting the angle, it's very shallow with no tension on the instrument) and bridge reglue (bridge is lifting, see photos). Other than that, it's a very nice example of the model. Cosmetically, it does show wear including some dings, scuffs, and scratches as well as some finish checking. The back of the neck shows a few capo marks that have worn through the finish and a few small dings but nothing major. The original patent pending Grover keys were never robbed which is always a nice bonus.

Our tech has just looked this one over and ensured that the neck is straight and the truss rod functions in both directions, that the bracing inside looks good and tight, and that the bridge plate is in good condition. He did note that the frets have been dressed at some point and will probably need to be gone over again once the proper work is completely but that there is plenty of material to get another dressing and crowning out of them.

A non-original but period hardshell case is included. The case is in good condition although the handle has been broken and "repaired". All of the latches and hinges are present and work as they should. The case does have a strong odor of mildew to it and obviously spent some time in an unconditioned space. The instrument will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping.

Overall, a great candidate that just needs the typical old acoustic work to become someones main player and a great way to get into a vintage Hummingbird at a price well-below a turn-key example. Don't miss out, this one won't last long...
