Description: Before Warm Audio, Heritage, and a litany of other Neve cloners was CL and Vintech. I recently purchased some low cost Neve clones that people have forgotten about to see how well they still stand up. The CL exceeded all expectations. It's weight, the chassis is nice quality, the aluminum knobs are smooth, anodized, and the pots feel premium. This unit features the full and correct 1073 EQ section including the HPF. The mid band and and HPF are inductor based just like the real thing and sound excellent. This model uses Chinese transformer equivalents to the Carnhill's and they sound great. They produce saturation that is very much Neve-esque. If you want a low cost entry into the full 1073 signal path (albeit with part concessions which frankly do not detract from the vibe despite edge lords online who may say otherwise), this is a solid choice for consideration. I've owned all the rare high end stuff people wax poetic about throughout my career and to be honest, a lot of it is hype. That's a story for another time & place though!

PS. The external power supply exhibits a faint hum (the rack itself is silent). It's fine and not indicative of any thing being wrong.
