Fender introduced the American Ultra Luxe in 2021 as the most advanced expression of the Ultra concept — a series built for players who want every modern refinement Fender has developed pushed as far as it can go. The Augmented D neck profile is the headline feature, a refined hybrid shape with slightly more body than the standard Modern D, becoming subtly fuller toward the twelfth fret with shoulders that soften in the upper register — genuinely one of the more comfortable and well-considered neck shapes Fender has produced. Stainless steel frets were a first for Fender at this level, and they deliver exactly what stainless promises: frets that will last the life of the guitar and a noticeably smoother bending feel than nickel. The 10-14 inch compound radius fingerboard is rounded near the nut for comfortable chording and flattens out as it approaches the upper register, eliminating the fretting-out that can plague a single fixed radius during aggressive bends. The ash body on this sunburst/maple neck configuration delivers a bright, resonant foundation, and the three Ultra Noiseless Vintage single-coil pickups give you true vintage Strat tone with the hum completely eliminated — a meaningful upgrade for anyone who has ever fought 60-cycle hum on a stage or in a studio. The S-1 switch built into the volume knob adds the neck pickup into switch positions one and two, opening up tonal combinations that a standard five-way switch simply cannot access. Sculpted rear body contours, a tapered neck heel for unimpeded upper fret access, sealed locking tuners, chrome hardware, and a bone nut round out a genuinely state-of-the-art instrument.
