Vintage 1966 Fender Blackface Princeton Reverb AA764 - Excellent Original Condition

For sale is an amazing sounding early blackface Fender Princeton Reverb AA764 from 1966, Production No. 44 on the inside tag. Message me for the Chassis serial number. Serious buyers only.

This is a true classic from Fender’s golden era. The Princeton Reverb is one of the most beloved small combo amps ever made — famous for sparkling cleans, chimey highs, and natural overdrive when pushed, all wrapped in a compact, lightweight package (around 25–28 lbs). It features built-in tube-driven spring reverb and bias-wiggle tremolo that sound absolutely magical.

Specs:

  • Year: 1966
  • Circuit: AA764 (early blackface version), professionally modified to adjust the volume after the tube gain overdrive. Perfect for low volume studio settings.
  • Cosmetics: Original black tolex and black control panel with white lettering in very good shape for its age. Minor wear consistent with a 58-year-old amp — no major rips, tears, or repairs.
  • Speaker: Upgraded with a desirable Altec Lansing 417-8C 12" speaker (8 ohms). This is a popular and excellent period-correct mod that gives tighter bass, more headroom, and a more open sound than the original 10" Jensen.
  • Internals: Original-style point-to-point wiring, correct transformers, and period components. Has had normal maintenance over the years (common for these amps).
  • Includes: Original-style handle, footswitch jacks for reverb and tremolo on the back.

This was checked over by a tech and all is working well. It is has been perfect for studio — used on many recordings.

Serious inquiries only. Local pickup preferred. Will consider shipping at buyer’s expense if packed carefully.

Message me with any questions or to schedule a time to see/hear it in person. More photos available upon request.
