1993 G&L Climax Bass

The 1993 G&L Climax Bass was a relatively exclusive offering, [rare] premium American-made instrument featuring a single, bridge-positioned Magnetic Field Design (MFD) humbucking pickup. Designed in the spirit of the iconic Music Man StingRay, the Climax is known for its blistering fast, narrow maple neck(rear access) and on-the-fly switchable active/passive electronics. Factory Specifications & DesignG&L (founded by Leo Fender and George Fullerton) highlighted the Climax as a highly focused, aggressive, yet versatile instrument, specifications of this one:

• Body Material: Lightweight ash 9.6 pounds.
• Electronics Configuration: One MFD humbucker placed in the "sweet spot" near the bridge.
• Controls: Active/Passive mini-toggle, Preamp On/Off mini-toggle, Volume, Treble, and Bass controls.
• Neck Specifications:  features a slim, maple narrow G&L #6 neck, measuring 1.5” at the nut with a 7.5” radius rosewood fingerboard. It utilized a Bi-cut [functioning] truss rod and Precision Tilt neck adjustment.
• Hardware: G&L Ultra-Lite tuning machines with tapered aluminum posts and a heavy-mass Saddle-Lock bridge.
