Prototype Boss Flanger made in Japan in March 1981, Black Label. This was one of the first Flangers made more than 45 years ago. Why I am calling it a prototype is because in the original Compact Boss pedals the Battery compartment had slots to feed the cable through instead of through the switch as it is today. Also the LED was hot glued in place instead of fitted on a daughter board like modern Boss Pedals. This Pedal arrived without a Thumb Screw so it was likely it was a silver Screw version.
I have serviced this pedal to be in perfect working order, more than 45+ years old, Boss pedals really do go forever! This pedal produces an incredible analogic range of Flanged and Chorus effect sounds made famous by Eddie Van Halen, Jonny Greenwood, Graham Coxon, Andy Summers and John Squire (waterfall) thanks to analogue Delay Japanese circuits. Lush sound and very versatile. The pedal works perfectly, in great condition considering its age. Can be powered by 9v battery or ACA 12v DC centre negative PSA.
