This is a top shelf '57 Stratocaster from Fender Japan. The ST57-900 (Previously known as the ST57-115) was the highest model tier in 1991 for standard Fender Japan production, sporting a lacquer finish, USA pickups USA electronics, and a steel bridge block. This guitar is Japan's version of the sought after US Vintage reissues being manufactured in the US at the time.

This guitar features a alder body, and maple neck with a oval profile. The neck is super comfortable, measuring 0.84" thick at the 1st fret, and thickening up to 0.95" at the 12th fret. This is still a solid 50s profile, but more medium than thick. The lacquer finish has aged quite well here. This guitar feels super worn in and exemplifies a great road worn vintage Stratocaster.

This guitar can be dated to 1991 from both a pencil date on the heel of the neck, and the pot code.

This guitar shows plenty of signs of cosmetic wear from over the years, most notably wear through the finish in many spots. As you would expect for a vintage accurate lacquer finish, it has worn through, dulled out, and discolored in areas. The most notable wear is on the edges, though dullness extends onto the top and back certain spots. The neck is in nice shape, with a few small blemishes as shown. The hardware shows some wear but everything functions great and adjusts with ease.  The frets are used, and do have some wear as you would expect for a 30+ year old instrument, but they still play well with life left. The electronics work as they should, and this guitar still has its factory-equipped 3-way pickup selector.

One tone pot was swapped, and the pickguard and tremolo arm later are replacements. This guitar is otherwise all original.

The original pot, and pickguard are included, though the pickguard has a chip in it, and the original pot has one part of the shaft chipped off.
