Bruce Kulick Collection (KISS) 1967 Gibson EB-3 - Cherry Red - Original Case

As many of you know, since the early 1990's I’ve always had a soft spot for vintage Gibson EB-3 basses. I currently own another 1967 EB-3 that I used on recordings during my years with KISS. (Yes, I played bass on certain songs). When I found this exceptionally clean example in 2015, I had to add it to my collection.

This bass is a wonderful representation of why the Gibson EB-3 became such a classic. The finish is the highly desirable Cherry Red, which has retained its vibrant appearance far better than many examples that have darkened to a wine-red shade over the years. It presents beautifully and has been carefully preserved throughout its life.

Before deciding to offer it for sale, I recently compared it side-by-side against my own well-loved 1967 EB-3 using the exact same recording setup. The result was impressive. This bass is absolutely competitive in tone, delivers the classic EB-3 growl, and plays wonderfully. The only reason I’m keeping the other one is because of its personal history with me.

Everything appears to be original, including:

• Original Cherry Red finish

• Original pickups and electronics

• Original pickup cover

• Original mute assembly

• Original hardware

• Original Gibson hardshell case with orange interior lining

The bass has also been fitted with a fresh set of strings and is ready to be enjoyed immediately.

The EB-3’s legendary sound has been heard in the hands of many of my favorite bass players. From Jack Bruce of Cream, Andy Fraser of Free, Bob Daisley with Ozzy Osbourne, Glenn Cornick of Jethro Tull, and many others, the EB-3 delivered a powerful low end and unmistakable growl that helped define countless classic recordings. (And when needing to be a bit Gene Simmon's like on KISS songs, a short scale EB-3 does the job admirably).
