Lays the Competition to Rest with Maximum Wrath
Explosively crafted for groove-laden metallic globetrotting, the Gibson Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt masterfully melds modern aerodynamics with tried-and-true Kalamazoo design. This signature solidbody electric guitar brandishes spotlight-stealing AAA quilt maple atop a weight-relieved mahogany body, complemented by single-ply binding and a smooth satin nitro finish. The mahogany neck is a metal musician’s delight, boasting a sleek SlimTaper profile and a Modern Contoured Heel, while the bound 22-fret ebony fingerboard serves as the high-potency launchpad for lightning-fast finger maneuvers. Fueled by covered Mark Morton signature humbuckers, this Les Paul delivers a liturgy of high-octane tones, from vintage-flavored textures to heavenly high-gain sonics. Additionally, this single-cut signature lays the competition to rest with high-caliber hardware, comprising an aluminum Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, locking Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with Keystone buttons, and a Graph Tech nut. Lastly, mother-of-pearl trapezoid fingerboard inlays, black top hat knobs with silver reflectors, chrome trim, and a signature truss rod cover give this powerful performer stage-worthy aesthetics. Available in limited quantities, the Mark Morton Les Paul will walk with you in Hell — and back — with supreme resolution.
Tailor-made for old-school Les Paul devotees with a penchant for high-performance fretwork, the Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt offers a top-choice take on this solidbody electric guitar that technical players — both shredders and virtuosos alike — will be eager to explore. Its mahogany body, which features Ultra Modern weight relief and is capped by a head-turning slab of AAA quilt maple, provides contoured playing comfort. Additionally, its premium mahogany neck highlights the sleek SlimTaper profile and a Modern Contoured Heel for effortless access to the higher frets. Beyond that, its bound ebony fingerboard flaunts a delightfully flat radius, supplying you with 22 frets of lightning-fast playability.
High-octane humbucking tones
If you like to burn up the fretboard like so many of us here at Sweetwater, you’ll absolutely adore the Mark Morton signature humbucking pickups in the Gibson Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt. The neck pickup flaunts moderate, PAF-style windings, bolstered by a ceramic magnet for added punch and clarity. The bridge pickup, on the other hand, boasts higher-output windings and a ceramic magnet, providing you with boosted power and presence primed for modern playing scenarios. Finally, both pickups are wired to a 3-way toggle and dedicated Volume and Tone controls, tied together with Orange Drop capacitors for maximum tonal precision.
From groove to glory: The relentless rise of Mark Morton
Renowned for his bold and potent — yet decidedly melodic — lead guitar playing, Mark Morton deftly navigates groove metal, thrash, and death metal with equal poise. Mark co-founded Lamb of God in 1994, spearheading the new wave of American heavy metal movement alongside bassist John Campbell, vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarist Willie Adler, and drummer Art Cruz. In 2018, he announced his solo debut album Anesthetic, released in 2019, which included collaborations such as “The Truth Is Dead” featuring Randy Blythe and Alissa White-Gluz, as well as the posthumous Chester Bennington track “Cross Off.” Mark later released his memoir Desolation: A Heavy Metal Memoir in 2024, where he reflects on his personal and professional struggles, including addiction, grief, and the challenges he encountered within the music industry. Today, Mark continues to channel his evolution as both an artist and a human being into music that resonates with power, vulnerability, and uncompromising authenticity.
