TASCAM Porta One Multitrack 4-Track Cassette Recorder

This Tascam Porta One has been fully serviced, cleaned, and calibrated, and is ready for immediate use. All core functions, including recording and playback on all four tracks, operate properly and the unit sounds great. Track-to-track response and noise characteristics may still vary, as is typical for analog cassette multitrack recorders. There is a video attached to the listing where recording and playback on all 4 tracks is demonstrated.

The unit is in pretty good cosmetic shape.

The latching mechanism for pause on the transport is intermitten. It sometimes works fine, other times it doesn't latch or gets stuck unlatching and needs to be helped.

Some faders are a little stiff.

Unit was tested around 3 hours. Recording and playback on full tapes on all 4 tracks.

Noise reduction is untouched.

Each unit includes a service form outlining the unit’s previous issues, all repairs made, all calibrations made, and the full testing process performed. Below is a summary of the work completed.

• Cleaned all mixer controls, freed up dried grease in pots
• Replaced all belts and idler tire
• Treated pinch roller with professional rubber rejuvenator
• Oiled capstan
• Degaussed/Demagnetized and cleaned transport
• Reinforced cracked head mounting plate and cracked cassette door
• shortened take up reel spring
• bent tension spring to allow the heads to properly engage
• Replaced faulty track 1 fader
• Replaced faded grey pan knobs with blue ones
• Reflowed all cracked solder joints
• Recapped headphone jack and motor control board
• Playback, record level calibrated
• Speed calibrated
• Record bias calibrated
• Wow and flutter measured at ~0.09% RMS (low)
