Matched Stereo Pair, Louder Than Liftoff Chroma 500 Series Twin Tone-Amp, with Royal Blue Colour Modules, with sequential serial numbers from LTL, in original boxes. Lightly used in the East Forest studio. Neve and API emulation with color drive options.

Chroma is the world's first 500 series audio processor with Twin Tone-Amp architecture and the ability to accept real analog plugins for expanding its feature set. Answering the call for a single channel Silver Bullet, Chroma delivers with its twin topology (A or N) line processor and mic amp, but adds an exciting twist - an analog plugin slot accepting Colour Modules. This feature allows additional processing and effects to be inserted into the signal path and mixed with Chroma's classic 'A' or 'N' inspired MOJO Amps.

Classic British Channel

ROYAL BLUE brings classic British console sound to the Colour format. This circuit was inspired by the 1081 Channel Amplifier used in vintage Neve* 80 Series recording consoles from the 70's. This legendary mic/line preamp and equalizer module featured discrete transistor amplifers and transformer-coupled input and output stages.  Its powerful yet musical equalizer section was state of the art for its time with a whopping 6 bands.  We miniaturized the essence of this classic to fit within the space limitations of the Colour format.  Multiple transistor amplifier stages drive a custom steel output transformer that offers the characteristic big tone one of the original LO2567.  We even recreated the 4.7 kHz Treble shelving EQ per the original circuit and carefully dialed in a fixed 5 dB boost that sounds divine on just about everything.  When ROYAL BLUE is outfitted in Chroma you have control over the amount of boost via the C-MIX knob.  This EQ boost can also be disabled via an onboard solderless jumper.  This meticulously crafted mini-1081 can be used to add hallmark Neve thickness and richness to individual tracks and mixes with aplomb.

CHROMA was designed with hybrid workflows in mind just like its big brother, the Silver Bullet.  These days gear needs to be versatile on both the front endandthe back end.  Featuring MIX and MIC modes, Chroma is both a line level processor, and a microphone preamp.

TWIN TONE-AMPâ„¢ ARCHITECTURE

At the heart of CHROMA are two Mojo Amps inspired by classic large format consoles – American (A), and British (N).  These Mojo Amps lend their characteristic sonic footprints to any signal passing through the circuit.  Like the Silver Bullet, CHROMA is the only processor of its kind that allows you to enable A or N sonics at the push of a button.  Auditioning these two signature sounds during a session no longer requires re-patching or swapping preamps'

TONE SHAPING

Having the ability to shape tone with broad strokes can be just what the doctor ordered to get your tracks to pop in a mix. To round out the feature set, Chroma features switchable Baxandall High Frequency (HF) and Low Frequency (LF) EQ boosts derived from drBill’s favorite Silver Bullet settings for sweetening and enhancing individual tracks or mixes.  The user can select PRESENCE or AIR, and SUB or BASS frequencies via onboard jumpers.  The HF switch can be programmed to add the Silver Bullet’s VINTAGE filter as well.

CONSOLE-LIKE SIGNAL FLOW

Select your input source - Mic or Mix.  Choose A or N MOJO.  Apply some sweet sounding saturation, compression, filtering or tone shaping.
