Warmth, straight up. Rich, woody tone that speaks for itself.
The OMC Soloist is one of Bourgeois’ most significant innovations. Co-designed with Eric Schoenberg and produced by Martin for Schoenberg Guitars in the 1980s, the original Schoenberg Soloist preceded Martin’s own reintroduction of its now iconic Orchestra Model, last produced in the early 1930s. Today, in all configurations the OM is the world’s second most popular acoustic guitar, a tribute to the vision and pioneering work of Schoenberg and Bourgeois.?
OM magic is created when a medium-sized body pairs with a long scale, 14 fret neck to produce a steel-string guitar endowed with exceptional balance and surprising clarity and presence. The OM became a Soloist when Bourgeois designed an elegant soft cutaway (itself widely emulated) that successfully complements an otherwise vintage aesthetic, while minimally altering the critical relationship between top surface area, air cavity volume, and string tension.
Bourgeois’ Downeast OMCE Soloist features an Aged Tone torrefied Sitka top, Indian Rosewood back and sides and a fingerstyle-friendly 1 3/4” nut. Respecting a now long Soloist tradition, the OMCE is simply but elegantly appointed with wooden bindings and purflings, short-pattern squares and diamonds fretboard inlays, and a rectangular vintage-inspired ebony bridge.
