Marlen D-10 3x5 Single Pedal Steel 1970s - Wood Grain with Original Case

Up for sale today we have a Marlen D-10 in amazing condition. This model is a 3x5, with 3 pedals and 5 knee levers. This custom build configuration is rare for this time period but is highly sought after among modern players. Built sometime in the 1970's these custom built Pedal steel guitars are highly sought after. This model is typically of a double neck but this one is a custom build with a single neck with arm pad. Tuned in the typical E9th tuning. It has been fully serviced and everything works great. It does have a few glue residue marks around the sides and small one on the fingerboard.(please see pictures). Comes with original case that is in great condition other than wear on the handle. Comes with slide and tuning key.

The Marlen steel guitars were made by the Stadler Music Co. in Reidsville NC. They no longer are in business. Sadly the owner Leonard Stadler passed away, and the company closed in the early 80s.  He manufactured Marlen and Speedy West Pedal Steel Guitars. Marlen pedal steel guitars are well-regarded by players for their rich tone and precise engineering. Stadler took a unique approach to pedal mechanics, notably designing instruments with a simplified "pull-release" changer system. While other builders opted for complex changers, Stadler accomplished pitch changes by incorporating additional stops and springs into the guitar’s undercarriage. This gave Marlen steels a signature sustain and tone often compared to the highly coveted Emmons push-pull Pedal steel guitar.

It is tuned to the standard E9th tuning. The LKL bends both E strings to F. The V shifts both B strings down to Bb. The LKR bends both E strings down to Eb. Pedal one Bends both B strings to C#. Pedal two bends both G# strings to A. Pedal 3 bends the E and B string to F# and C#. The RKL Bends both F# strings To G. The RKR bends the D string down to C# and the D# string down to D. This is a standard bend configuration. The linkages can also be moved for other configurations as well.

This model has some great features including the padded arm rest as well as the adjustable feet. The leg height is also adjustable. This model has a scale length of 24.5''.
