Up for sale is a rare original 1972 Fender Stratocaster body in its original black finish. This is a genuine early-’70s Strat body with the classic large-contour Fender shape and vintage wear throughout.

This body has been modified over the years and is being sold as a vintage restoration/project body. The bridge/tremolo cavity was filled at some point, as shown in the photos. There are also extra holes drilled on the top to accommodate a Gibson-style stop tailpiece and studs. The pickup cavities have been coated with conductive shielding paint.

The original black finish shows plenty of honest age, scratches, checking, dings, finish wear, and general play wear, but it still has a great vintage look. The neck pocket area and cavities show age and wear consistent with a 50+ year old Fender body. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.

This would be a great candidate for a restoration, custom build, or vintage Fender project. Original early-’70s Strat bodies in factory black are hard to find, even with modifications.
