Up for sale is a Xenos Solid Body Prototype.  This is a rare opportunity to own a truly one off DGN Prototype!!

The Xenos Model started life as a fully hollow arch top guitar, but I knew a solid body version could be very special!!  It is ever!!! 

This prototype was mostly finished last year alongside the Xenos Hollow prototype but needed wiring and final setup so it fell to the wayside for a while.  It’s finally been complete for a bit and is ready for a new home.

This Xenos is a throwback to when I built Burst Style instruments almost exclusively.  It’s a short scale 1959 Burst Scale, and 22 frets. Dot inlays give a nod to the ES models of the late 50’s.  With the smaller than usual Xenos body this created an instrument that is ultra compact.  And thats what makes this guitar incredibly cool!!  The overall length is just 38” and it weights 5.9 pounds!! Proof that good things can and do come in small packages. This guitar sounds MASSIVE!!

Part of the experiment with this particular instrument was the use of Catalpa as a body wood.  Catalpa is not widely used in guitars but its slowly gaining popularity.  It has the look of Ash but with a warmer color, and the appealing part to me, its light as a feather. There is a natural resonance and sustain in this guitar I haven’t quite gotten with other body woods.  The top is Australian Blackwood with matching headstock faceplate.  The neck is 3 piece, Highly Flamed Maple with a center Walnut accent.  It’s a stunning combinations of tone woods!! Not only does it look that part, its sounds the part in spades!!

The electronics are simple and straightforward.  It’s loaded with a pair of my Tru-PAF HiPo Humbuckers for extra push and output.  The controls are Volume, Tone, 3-Way and Coil taps for each pickup.
