Martin 00-21 1053 - Natural with original Martin hard-shell case

Martin 00-21 made in Nazareth PA in 1953. Serial number 133250 stamped onto the neck block.

This, as well as the 00-21NY are my favorite guitars in the Martin line up. I like the small body, the wide fingerboard and the slot head headstock with the mature response of the the Brazilian Rosewood. This one has recently come out of Kerry Char's shop here in Portland with a fresh neck-set and new bone saddle. He additionally fashioned a correct pickguard for it out of vintage material to match the correct aesthetic of the instrument. The guitar plays exceptionally well and has a distinctive bell like quality with lots of separation between voicings. The guitar has the Brazilian Rosewood belly bridge. The Engelman Spruce top is bound with a five-ply binding with tortoise on the outside. The Brazilian Rosewood back exhibits a lovely clean and straight grain pattern with a decorative center stripe and three-ply binding. The Brazilian Rosewood sides exhibit more color and figure than the back. The guitar has one hard to detect rim repair on the lower bout along the grain line from about the end pin to where the bridge is positioned. The finish is thin over most of the guitar. There is a old center seam repair below the bridge and some fatigue in the finish around the bridge where light sanding can be detected. Dents scrapes and even some lettering can be seen on the surface of the top. A blacklight reveals nothing requiring any attention. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and frets show almost no playwear. Included with the sale of the guitar is the original firm fitting hard shell case that shows wear and some tape marks. The handle recently broke so I will be replacing that.

String height at the 12th fret is 4 mm on the bass side and 2.5 mm on the treble side.
