1990s Epiphone Joe Pass Signature Emperor in gorgeous natural finish. If you know 90s Epiphones, you know the Korean Samick factory ("S" serial prefix) was responsible forsome of the best guitars in the company's history. This one is a prime example--an early transition-era build. While the catalog started moving toward the thinner Emperor II models around this time, the factory used the highly desirable Emperor I deep-body specs for this run.
Specs & Details:
- Body: This isn't the newer standard, thin 2.5-inch mass-production model. The side rims measure right at 2.875 inches deep (a hair under 3 inches). Full-depth acoustic resonance, low-end warmth and projection.
- Brilliant Natural Blonde finish showing off an absolutely gorgeous, highly figured book-matched flame maple pattern across the back and sides.
- Hardware: Complete with the original dual top-mounted humbuckers, vintage amber top-hat control knobs, and the early vertical "Joe Pass" text on the truss rod cover. Gorgeous original floating bridge and intricate tail piece.
- Case Included: shipped safely in Original Hard Shell Case (OHSC) with a plush interior.
Condition Notes:
The guitar is in excellent structural shape, plays fast, sounds incredibly woody and rich. Minor cosmetic player wear as expected for a 30-year-old vintage instrument, but it has been well cared for and never abused. The gold hardware shows some beautiful, honest vintage patina. This is a premium, properly spec'd Korean jazz box that plays and sounds as great as it looks. Ships fully insured and packed carefully.
