Finally a Custom Built Bass Almost Anyone Can Afford!

A friend of mine that works at the music store up town came by last night to check out this build and play it. He said it was like playing a piece of livingroom furniture.

If you like the look of nicely finished wood this bass is for you. I built this from a piece of CNC cut Honduran Mahogany. I finished it with eight hand rubbed coats of Old Masters Tung Oil Varnish. Very time consuming (over a week), but well worth the look in the end. The neck was made for me by Freestone Guitars in upstate NY. It is Canarywood on Sepele. Sepele is a South American tone wood often considered a me too of Mahogany. Canarywood is also a South American tone wood. Very hard and dense. Beautiful! It is also finished in Tung Oil Varnish finish. Smooth as glass. The frets have been leveled and polished. The neck has a nice slim profile, an 1 1/2" at the nut. It plays like butter. Perfectly balanced. The bass weighs in around 8lbs.

Why is it a "B" stock? I'm probably being to picky but to me the neck finish came out with a few small uneven color in spots. I tried spot fixing a couple of them. Not a chance. Something in the wood I suspect. Finish wise, not up to my standards so I figured I knock a $100 off the price. It plays and sounds amazing and if you don't know what you're looking for no one will ever notice.

For the rest I used Gotoh builders grade tuners, a True Custom Shop Quarter Pounder Alnico 5 pickup, a Fender threaded saddle classic bridge, Bourns 250K pots, .047 cap, a Switchcraft jack, a dual action trussrod, and a hand cut bone nut. The bass looks, plays, and sounds amazing. I can't imagine anyone not liking this bass. No dead spots. No fret buzz.

As always I stand behind all my new builds. I have a 5 star rating on the site and work hard to keep it. If you find anything different either described or pictured on the bass, contact me here and I promise to do everything I can make it right for you.
