Tokai Hummingbird 5-String Resonator Banjo MIJ w/ D-Tuners & Hard Case

Up for sale is a Tokai Hummingbird 5-string banjo made in Japan.

We just cleaned, restrung, and set the banjo up here at the shop and it is ready to go. This is a substantial instrument that immediately feels like a step above many entry-level banjos, with impressive weight, quality hardware, and a strong resonant voice.

At 12 lbs 3 oz, this banjo has the kind of mass typically associated with higher-end bluegrass instruments. The heavy tone ring assembly and overall construction contribute to excellent volume, sustain, and projection. Whether you're playing solo, jamming with friends, or taking the stage, this banjo has plenty of presence.

Visually, the Hummingbird is loaded with attractive appointments. The fretboard features ornate pearl inlays throughout, while the headstock carries an elaborate inlaid Tokai logo and decorative pattern work. The rosewood resonator adds a classy vintage appearance and complements the chrome hardware nicely.

A previous owner also installed a pair of banjo D-tuners on the headstock, allowing for quick preset tuning changes often used in traditional bluegrass playing. Additionally, the banjo is equipped with a sliding 5th-string capo for easy key changes without the need for railroad spikes.

Condition is very good overall. There are signs of normal cosmetic wear from age and use, but nothing that detracts from the instrument's appearance or functionality. The banjo plays nicely up and down the neck and is ready for its next owner.
