The body is made of Hawaiian koa with beautiful figured grain. It features a dark ebony fingerboard and bridge, MOP vertical logo, MOP hexagon fingerboard inlays, abalone trim, mosaic backstrip, and non-scalloped bracing. Made in the style of a 1968-69 D-45, this is a meticulously crafted instrument with a late 1960s round-corner headstock, a box-shaped endgraft surrounded by abalone on all four sides, Grover Rotomatic gold tuners, SQ neck, and beveled black pickguard. The all-koa construction results in a sound image with extremely clear definition for each note. It has a dry brightness, yet retains the Martin-like cohesion in the mid-low range, producing an elegant and solid sound. Some binding has been repaired due to age-related shrinkage and peeling, but there are no noticeable scratches, cracks, or other major damage, indicating that it has been well cared for.
