This pedal is in excellent shape and functions perfectly. It is complete with velcro for pedalboard installations.
About the pedal:
The Iron Ether FMeron is a true monophonic frequency modulation (FM) synthesizer in a stompbox format, designed specifically to be controlled by the pitch and dynamics of a bass or guitar. It translates the pure sine waves of your instrument into harsh metallic timbres, clangs, and bell-like tones. [1, 2, 3]How the FM Engine Works
- The Oscillators: The pedal features two pure sine wave oscillators that track your playing: a Carrier (the main synth voice you hear) and a Modulator (which changes the frequency of the Carrier).
- Octave Switch: You can set the synth voice to track unison, one octave down, or one octave up relative to your instrument's pitch.
- FM Knob & Modulator Frequency: The FM control dictates the intensity of the modulation, while the Modulator Frequency knob changes the mathematical ratio between the two oscillators, allowing you to easily dial in consonant or dissonant intervals.
Dynamics & Envelope GeneratorBecause FM synthesis is often completely static, the FMeron incorporates an envelope generator triggered by your string plucks.
- Attack/Decay: This knob controls the shape of the envelope, which can be swept upward or downward.
- Env Switch: You can assign this envelope to control either the FM amount (adding harsh, evolving harmonics the longer a note rings out) or the Synth Volume (for slow-attack swells or percussive, plucky stabs).
- Expression Control: You have the option to plug in an expression pedal to manually control the frequency modulation in real time.
Blend and Tonal Options
- Clean vs. Synth: Separate volume knobs for your clean signal and your synth voice let you blend in just enough FM grit while retaining your low-end fundamental.
- Subharmonic Tones: Dialing the FM amount down to zero turns the pedal into a heavy, subharmonic/octave-style generator.
