Up for sale we have a 1965 Fender Mustang in Blue finish with original hardshell case. The Mustang is one of Fender’s iconic offset models from the golden era of Fullerton production. Originally introdiced as a student model, the Mustang has long since earned its place as a professional-grade instrument. Favored for its short-scale feel, distinctive styling and versatile electronics, the Mustang delivers classic vintage Fender tone and unmistakable character. This particular example is in very good overall condition and all-original to the very best of our knowledge. It shows its age with honest play wear and vintage patina throughout. The body finish shows heavy lacquer checking and a yellowish/amber tint from years of UV exposure giving the majority of the original blue finish a greenish hue with the original bright blue peeking through areas where the clear coat has worn through. The guitar shows moderate cosmetic wear with small dings, dents and scuffs scattered throughout the body as well as worn down lacquer on the backside of the neck from decades of playing leaving a silky smooth playing surface that feels incredible in the hand. The original medium sized frets are present and show a fair amount of visible play wear with light grooving beneath the strings through the first nine frets. Notes still ring clean and clear with no dead spots and the frets have some good life left in them. The neck is straight and plays great. Truss rod access is located at the heel of the neck and functions as intended. Overall a very nice mid-60’s Mustang, everything is there!
