Selling my beloved main pair of Backuns because I won a new instrument (Selmer Muse) and want to switch to an even more high-end pair. I purchased the Grenadilla Bb 2.5 years ago, and the Cocobolo A 1.5 yrs ago from the same store in Las Vegas (Kessler & Sons Music), brand new. They were just serviced and then evaluated by Sarah from Meridian Winds and are in pristine condition. I oiled and polished them religiously. These clarinets are incredible - they helped me in winning competitions, performing as principal in multiple orchestras and doing solo/chamber performances as well (you can check my YT for some reference of how they sound in action). The Bb has cracked twice but those were fixed with carbon fibre rods - you can barelly see where those are. The beauty of having different woods is mixing the bell/barrels and having 64,65,65,66mm barrels so you can easily play in 440 or 442. The pitch tendencies are a lot more even than other clarinets in this price range. Willing to part with both for $6000 or sell each separately - Bb for $2500, A for $3500. I also have a Vandoren BD5 (13 profile) and a Backun Signature Shifrin model, both refaced by Wodkowski - check my other listings. The Q Series Clarinet offers those who prefer a more traditional French-style instrument the chance to experience the world of Backun. Backun combines modern manufacturing techniques and treatments, including a carbon fiber middle joint ring, with naturally unstained Cocobolo wood and brilliant silver-plated keywork to produce an instrument with truly familiar feel and playability. Inline trill keys move the tone holes out of the waterline while the Backun proprietary manufacturing process ensures a precision bore and perfectly sculpted tone holes that produce impeccable intonation and response. With upgraded custom black leather pads and silencing materials that provide unrivaled comfort and response, Q Series Clarinets are now paired with two Backun Lumière Barrels and a Lumière Bell, adding further refinement and playability throughout all registers. An affordable masterpiece, the Q Series is the classic choice. This instrument features the alternate Eb key for easier execution of difficult passages.
