The most special thing about this bass is its neck profile. It starts out as a standard profile, about halfway between a P-bass and a J-bass, but becomes a softly asymmetric 'V' in the upper range. It will make you want to use all 24 frets.
These Daion basses were made in the Yamaki factory alongside the Washburn 'Wings' series. This is a somewhat more adventurous design than the Washburn basses of the era, but it shares the through-neck construction, beautiful tonewoods, brass nut, and chunky high-sustain hardware.
Electronics include two volume knobs, 2 tone, and a 3-way switch to allow for quick switching between pickups with different settings. It will feel familiar if you've played a Gibson-style guitar, but it's not something bassists usually get to use! The bridge pickup is unusually close to the bridge and really cuts through a mix.
The bass has several dings but nothing major. There is a broken-off strap button on the back and a second hole drilled near it, but the strap button is currently installed on the upper horn.
Recently professionally set up and intonated, and singing beautifully!
