Up for sale is the legendary, holy-grail hifi component: the Nakamichi Dragon Discrete 3-Head Cassette Deck. This unit is being sold as a partial-repair/restoration project due to a specific reverse-playback issue, though the forward functions work beautifully. Operational Functionality Report: Forward Playback: Functions.   Recording: Tested and working excellently in forward mode. Fast Forward & Rewind: Both modes are strong, fast, and fully responsive. The Issue (Reverse Playback): When switching to reverse playback, the mechanism attempts to engage but fails to hold or play correctly. It will likely require standard mechanical service (such as a replacement left idler tire, pinch roller arm lubrication, or a drive belt kit overhaul) to restore full bidirectional functionality. Cosmetic Condition: The faceplate is in excellent cosmetic shape with clean, legible text and sharp corners. The buttons, toggles, and dual-display meters illuminate brightly and respond precisely. The chassis shows only minor, standard vintage wear from stack use, consistent with its age. It will be double-boxed using thick, dual-wall corrugated shipping boxes. The inner space will be densely packed with high-density foam or packing peanuts to ensure absolutely zero movement during transit. Shipped with full insurance via FedEx or UPS Ground.
