The Yamaha L-6 occupies a special place in the company's history and represents the early development of what would eventually become Yamaha's highly respected L-Series lineup. Built during the Nippon Gakki era, these instruments were designed as premium Japanese-made acoustics featuring superior materials, craftsmanship, and attention to detail compared to Yamaha's standard production offerings.
This example features a beautifully aged natural finish with what appears to be a solid spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides. Decades of aging have given the guitar a warm, mature appearance while also contributing to the rich, balanced voice that has made vintage Yamaha acoustics so desirable among players and collectors alike.
The ebony fingerboard is adorned with distinctive position markers unique to the model, while the bound neck, body, and headstock add an upscale appearance that reflects the instrument's place within Yamaha's higher-end offerings.
We recently cleaned, restrung, and professionally set the guitar up here at the shop. It plays comfortably with excellent action and delivers the strong projection, clarity, and balanced tonal response that vintage Japanese Yamahas are known for.
Condition is excellent overall for its age. The guitar shows normal light cosmetic wear from decades of careful use, including minor surface marks and handling wear, but remains exceptionally clean and well-preserved. The frets show only light wear and have plenty of life remaining.
Includes the pictured hard shell case.
