The AJH Synth MiniMod Sample Hold & Slew is a highly versatile, multi-functional Eurorack control voltage (CV) and audio processor designed to bring vintage, analog-style modulation to your rack. While it sits perfectly within AJH’s Moog-inspired MiniMod ecosystem, it operates as a Swiss Army knife for random voltage generation, clocking, and glide effects in any patch.

Core Architecture & Features

The module is split into two primary interconnected sections—a flexible Sample & Hold / Track & Hold generator and a fully featured Slew Limiter—backed by a built-in analog noise source and an internal clock.

1. Sample & Hold / Track & Hold (S-HOLD / T-HOLD)

At its center is a precision sampling circuit that can freeze an incoming voltage at a specific moment.

 Dual Modes: A toggle switch flips between standard Sample & Hold (capturing a single voltage level on a clock rise) and Track & Hold (letting the input pass through transparently while the clock is high, and freezing it only when the clock drops low).

 Internal Clock Generator: Driven by the RATE knob, the internal LFO/clock handles sampling duties out of the box but can easily be overridden via the CLK IN jack. The clock also breaks out via CLK OUT to drive the rest of your system.

 Onboard Noise Source: It includes a dedicated analog noise generator normalled straight into the sample input. The COLOUR knob shapes this noise from deep Red/Pink tones to bright White noise. A toggle flips the noise from a smooth distribution to a CLIPPED state, providing aggressive, hard-stepping random voltages.

2. Slew Limiter & Glide Control

The right side of the panel focuses on smoothing out sharp transitions, perfect for classic synthesizer portamento or rounding off jagged random steps.

 Linear vs. Exponential Slew: Switchable between a rigid, uniform change (LIN SLEW) or a natural, musical curve (EXP SLEW) that mimics the glide of a vintage Model D.

 Directional Control: A dedicated toggle allows you to apply the glide exclusively to rising pitches (SLEW UP), falling pitches (DOWN), or both simultaneously.

 The RESTRICT Knob: A powerful performance feature that acts as a threshold control. It allows fast, short pitch intervals to slide normally, but chokes or limits the slew speed on larger octave jumps, preventing long, sluggish transitions when jumping registers.
