The Marcato 100 series is highly respected by string educators as a dependable, beautifully resonant step-up instrument carved from real tonewoods, offering a much deeper, warmer acoustic voice than cheap factory-pressed laminate models.

At 15 inches, this viola is an ideal choice for an advancing middle school or high school student who is outgrowing a smaller junior instrument and needs that true, robust C-string depth and projection without jumping all the way up to a massive full-size viola.

Materials & Craftsmanship

• Solid Wood Construction: Carved spruce top plate paired with a maple back and sides, ensuring true acoustic projection and excellent natural warmth.
• Traditional Fitting Layout: Fitted with a genuine ebony fingerboard, a traditional peg box setup, and an integrated fine-tuner tailpiece to make precise tuning adjustments simple for developing players.

Condition & Cosmetic Disclosure

This viola outfit is in honest, player-grade condition:

• Cosmetic Status: The varnish finish exhibits a fair amount of superficial nicks, dings, and scratches distributed across the top plate and body contours from normal student handling over the years. These blemishes are entirely cosmetic and do not affect the beautiful resonance of the wood.
• Structurally Flawless: Crucially, there are absolutely no cracks, open seams, or structural issues that inhibit the playability, tone, or longevity of the instrument. The neck joint is stable, the peg box is solid, and the interior soundpost is secure.
• Ready for Play/Setup: The instrument is structurally ready to go, though as with any quality orchestral string instrument that has been sitting, a fresh restringing and a quick bridge alignment check are recommended to maximize playability and tone.
• Included Bow & Case: The included hardshell case and student bow both show standard cosmetic signs of use, but function exactly as they should to safely house and transport the instrument.
