Yamaha PB-400M Precision Bass MIJ Sunburst w/ Hard Case

Up for sale is a Yamaha PB-400M Precision Bass, made in Japan and finished in a classic 3-Tone Sunburst.

These early Yamaha basses have earned a strong reputation for delivering excellent build quality, dependable hardware, and vintage-inspired tone at a price that remains accessible compared to many of their American counterparts. The PB-400M captures the familiar feel and punch of a traditional P-style bass while showcasing the craftsmanship that made Yamaha's Japanese production instruments so highly regarded.

The bass features a maple neck with matching maple fingerboard, split-coil Precision-style pickup, vintage-style bridge, and lightweight open-gear tuners. It delivers the thick, authoritative low end and strong midrange presence that has made the Precision Bass design a studio and stage staple for decades.

We recently cleaned, restrung, and set the bass up here at the shop. It is playing nicely with comfortable action and solid overall feel.

Condition is good overall. There is normal cosmetic wear throughout including scratches, dings, finish impressions, edge wear, and other signs of use consistent with a vintage instrument. The most noticeable cosmetic wear is a few chips along the body edge. The original volume knob is missing and has been replaced with a non-original metal knob. Nothing currently affects the bass's playability or functionality.
