Handbuilt Cocktail Drum Kit 2008 - Turquoise Glitter

3 piece custom cocktail drum kit designed and assembled by...me.

What is bad: the wrap started to come up on the seam of the large drum, and chipped before I could fix it. As such, a lengthwise piece of clear tape is holding it down on the back side of the drum. It is not visible from the front.

What is good: everything else! The turquoise glitter wrap finish looks amazing under stage lights; it has reflective bits of pink and blue as well. The 10" tom and 14" main drum are maple drums with 45 degree bearing edges and RIMS mounts. The snare drum (which is a re-wrapped Pearl Firecracker snare) is attached to the large drum with two brackets which spreads out the stress on the main shell; you can hit fairly hard & don't feel like you are playing a toy. The drums sound great; all build decisions were made with maximum resonance in mind. I believe the sound quality (for a cocktail kit) is better than anything currently available. Also comes with my ingenious (read: I was too cheap to pay $80 at the time for a proper bracket) kick pedal mounting system. You can reverse most simple pedals (like the DW 5000) to swing up instead of forward, so the beater hits the bottom head of the large drum for your kick sound. I'm also including a stand mounted cymbal arm and stand mounted closed hi-hat so you could have a crash, ride, and hi-hat all mounted to one cymbal stand (which is how I used to play it). You are on the stage in two trips. And...it's a good core workout to play while standing and balancing on one foot!

The price is $1000 firm; I will not be lowering the price. This price represents what it cost me to build it in 2008 (you couldn't build it for this much today); if I can't sell for this price I will just keep it.
