*** NOTICE! This is a DIY, kit version of Monkeymatic Black Butte ***
The Monkeymatic Black Butte Kit includes all the high-quality parts needed to build your own two-watt tube amplifier, including the chassis and circuit board, transformers, tubes, hardware and all components. This is a real tube amp build, not a snap-together project, and is intended for builders with intermediate to advanced soldering and electronics skills. You’ll need appropriate bench tools, including soldering iron and solder, screwdrivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, needle-nose pliers, and a multimeter. Careful assembly, safe work habits, and respect for high voltage are required—but for the right builder, the result is a compact, great-sounding tube amp you built yourself. Instructions and schematic will be emailed to buyers. Limited build support is available from Monkeymatic via the ampgarage.com forum (free to join).
The Monkeymatic Black Butte is a two-watt tube amplifier with a voice far bigger than its footprint. Designed for recording, practice, and anyone who wants real amp behavior at usable volume, Black Butte delivers the feel, compression, and harmonic complexity of a cranked tube amp without rattling the windows out of the room.
Turn it up and Black Butte sounds like a giant: bold, articulate, touch-sensitive, and alive under your fingers. It moves from clean edge and chime into rich overdrive with the kind of natural breakup that responds directly to your pick attack and guitar volume.
Designed in Chico, California by Monkeymatic, Black Butte is a compact working amp for players who care about tone at human scale: perfect for the studio, the bench, the living room, or late-night inspiration.
Two watts. Huge voice. Built to be wound up.
